Our Guiding Principles
Our guiding principles include the following:
- The union shall be an independent organization as freely founded by its members with its administration and governance exclusively under the members.
- The union membership unless deemed otherwise is for workers in active service in private schools who have freely joined the union and or have collective bargaining agreements/ memorandum of understanding.
- The union works to ensure that no discriminatory acts are committed against any persons by the union officers or its organs, members or any employers or the state on grounds such as race, gender, disability, age, creed or social class.
- The union shall not be affiliated to any political party and any leader(s) or official(s) of the union who holds office in any political party shall not use the union in promotion of party work otherwise shall be required to relinquish the union office with immediate effect.
- The union shall be guided by the ideals of democracy, human rights and social justice and shall be transparent and accountable to its members in an orderly manner through the relevant organs.
- All members and leaders shall be required to maintain a good standard of ethics, professionalism and integrity, respect for each other and to obey and follow the code of conduct as shall be developed from time to time.
