Our Objectives

The main objects for which Uganda Private Teachers’ Union (UPTU) was established are

  1. To promote respect and observance of school workers’ rights in the private education institutions through collective bargaining and representation.
  2. To undertake education programmes that help to address the needs of members, employers and the employment demands at large.
  3. To foster good industrial relations and encourage maintenance of good work practices and professionalism.
  4. To execute programmes intended to improve labour welfare as elaborated in the decent work country programme such as (mitigating risks of HIV/AIDS, child labour, precarious work at workplaces), environment protection and sustainability, entrepreneurship promotion and any other appropriate programmes thought for the good of members and Uganda at large.
  5. To seek cooperation and affiliation to national and international organizations for purposes of solidarity, exchange programmes and best practices, support among others.
  6. To perform other duties and engage in other businesses as the relevant organs may lawfully decide.
