Who we are

Uganda Private Teachers’ Union (UPTU) is a national Labour Union No. LU. 27 with a mandate to organize workers in private Education institutions/ schools for advancement and promotion of their socio-economic interests/ welfare through collective bargaining, negotiation and representation.

Membership and Area of Operation

The membership of UPTU is open to all workers both teaching and nonteaching staffs in private schools of Uganda. They are in the Categories of; Founder, honorary, individual and group/School Membership. UPTU is affiliated to National Organisation of Trade Union (NOTU).

Goals

  1. To contribute to improvement of working conditions of teachers and support staff in private schools through collective bargaining and negotiations.
  2. To improve productivity and competitiveness of private school staffs through regular trainings and capacity building programs for members.
  3. To develop and maintain strategic alliances with stakeholders for collaboration and exchange programs.
  4. Improve members economic well-being by negotiating for better emoluments and promotion of alternative income streams through cheap capital access.
