UPTU undertakes collective bargaining and programmes of representation, arbitration, grievance handling and litigation at different levels of union operation.
- Lobby employers for improved and attractive working conditions for school staff, and participate in development and review of policies, regulations and laws.
- Seek and lobby for forums in which workers’ voices deserve representation.
- Provide legal and related support to indigent members, educate and train on industrial relations, support court representation, and develop resources on workers’ matters.
- Facilitate dialogue and dispute-settlement mechanisms and commission policy position papers.
